The Council for WV Archaeology and the WV
Archeological Society are holding
a NAGPRA workshop in Charleston,
WV on Saturday, June 26. The workshop is
for anyone who might be
interested in the law and the changes that have
taken place since
its passage in 1990. There will also be talks about
determining
cultural affiliation in areas like West Virginia where the
early
native population has been determined "culturally
unidentifiable." There
will be participation by the NPS and
the National NAGPRA program, as well as
speakers from other states
who will describe their experiences with the law.
A
preliminary program schedule is linked
here.
The program will begin on Saturday at 8:00 am
with registration. The
registration fee is $15. A registration
form is linked here for those of
you
who would like to register in advance. The meeting will be
