Introduction

In information technology (IT), a system administrator is a person who supports a multi-user computing environment and ensures continuous, optimal performance of IT services and support systems. System administrator job responsibilities vary greatly among employers. In a large enterprise, the title system administrator may be used to describe any administrator who is responsible for a specialised IT system such the one that supports servers. Besides that, system administrator also has many other IT-based responsibilities such as Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting servers, operating systems (OS), creating user accounts and assigning user permissions and setting up company’s website as example. As a System Administration and Maintenance student, we are assigned to install and configure an open source operating system, internet server and content management system (CMS) as part of our lesson.
